Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad

...I spent a lovely August afternoon some time ago, exploring the Spooner Railroad Station in northwestern Wisconsin. I was lucky to be accompanied by two wonderful women, a great friend of mine Pamela and her grandmother Alice. Being native to the area, Alice shared her experiences growing up in this part of the Midwest and shed some light on this once busy railway station.

The Spooner station is a stop along the way of the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad. This railroad has always been primarily utilized for passenger service. Today the Spooner Station offers historic themed rail dinners and weddings, as well as hosting special events and school youth trips.

...The multitude of colors and the pleasing lines of the trains offered a great opportunity to capture these images. Many thanks to Pamela, Alice, and the Dalen family for their knowledge, hospitality, and friendship.

Greetings. I finally have my site and blog up and running, and will be adding imagery to my galleries on a daily basis.

About a month ago, a good friend of mine and fellow photographer Curtis Bogan, took me on a guided tour of the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Growing up in the area, Curtis has extensiv
e knowledge of the geography, wildlife, and culture of the eastern and western sides of the Sierra Nevada. I was able to capture many beautiful images in the time spent at Convict and Mono Lake. Thanks Curt!

Both images were taken at Mono Lake in the afternoon. The one on the right is my favorite. I have to thank another friend of mine Greg McKay, for the use of his 16mm fisheye. That lens was used more than any other on this trip.
